
OVERVIEW
Gamescom is the largest computer, video gaming and interactive entertainment event in the world. The show has been a massive success since its launch in 2009 and has become a forum for all major publishers and game studios to present their new products.
Organized by Koelnmesse and funded by the German Games Industry Association, Gamescom has been held annually since 2009 in Cologne, Germany. It has grown to be the largest international games festival and the leading business platform for the games industry in Europe over the past decade, with over 300,000 attendees every year.
In 2019, there were 373,000 fair visitors from 107 countries, 31,300 of which were trade visitors that attended the event. There were also 1,153 exhibitors from 52 countries.
Additionally, Gamescom was supposed to make its Asian debut (Gamescom Asia) in Singapore, through a partnership between Koelnmesse and the Singapore Tourism Board, from 15th to 18th October 2020. However, its debut was postponed to Oct 14th to 17th 2021, due to the circumstances of Covid-19. The new event, Gamescom Asia is an expansion into one of the fastest-growing gaming markets in the world.
Gamescom Asia aims to serve as the leading platform for game developers Southeast Asian to explore partnerships globally and act as a hub for international publishers searching for the next big thing in games. The flagship event will be the inaugural Asian edition of Gamescom.
It is estimated that over 30,000 visitors globally will be gathering in Singapore. With the business area, the entertainment area, and the industry gaming conference, Gamescom Asia covers the entire diversity of the games culture.
Furthermore, Gamestart will be partnering with Gamescom by handing over the reigns to Gamescom Asia to build on the current gaming community that Gamestart has established over the years.
